Bernie Sanders Receives The Most Sought-After Endorsement A Real Gift From Alexandria Ocasio-Co

Sen. Bernie Sanders has struck gold — political gold, that is. The independent from Vermont, who has had a very tough week with the passing of his daughter-in-law and suffering a heart attack, has two reasons to celebrate.

Sanders has managed to land one of the most sought-out endorsements in the Democratic party. On Saturday, first-term Congresswomen Reps. Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will announce their backing of Sanders for the president of the United States.

Sanders’ campaign manager, Faiz Shakir, told Politico that AOC decided to share the big news with Sanders while he was still in the hospital.

Shakir revealed: “Think about the courage of this person who says, ‘You know, I know what you just went through, but I have so much trust and confidence in you that you are the one who will fight the fight that I believe in. I’m with you.’ “

As stated above, the ladies’ endorsements come as Sanders was hit with two major traumatic events. In a tragic turn of events, the daughter-in-law of Sanders, Dr. Raine Riggs, has passed away.

The woman was diagnosed with cancer just two days before her death, and while the initial prognosis was already not good, many were surprised by her untimely passing.

The woman had been ill for several weeks, and doctors were initially very confused with her condition.

The cancer diagnosis was not even on the table initially. It only came to light at a later point when the woman returned to the Medical Center of the University of Pittsburgh.

Many have expressed their condolences for the woman’s family, and people close to Riggs are reportedly in shock and disbelief over what had happened, asking how the situation could have deteriorated that fast.

It is not clear if the woman could have been saved with more timely treatment, but reports indicate that the cancer was quite advanced already, so it is not likely that this would have made any difference.

Sanders himself had some recent medical complications but is reportedly in good condition at the moment and is moving forward with his life.

He has not commented on the situation so far, and representatives for him have turned down questions from the press.

It will likely take some time before Sanders addresses what has happened, as he will likely prefer to spend some time close to his family first, so he can provide consolation to everyone before addressing the public.
