Stephen Robert Macht was born on May 1, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is best known for his work on the soap operas One Life to Live and General Hospital.
Macht received his professional training at Dartmouth College and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. He was a tenured Associate Professor with a degree in dramatic literature from Indiana University when he was teaching.
He made his acting debut in the TV horror thriller Deadly Visitor in 1973. Macht appeared in almost 150 episodes of the daytime soap series General Hospital.
He appeared in several episodes of Melrose Place alongside Heather Locklear. Macht has four children with his wife, Suzanne Victoria Pulier.
His children are Julie, Ari Serbin, Gabriel, an actor, and Jesse, a singer.
